The project
School roof and ceilings,
Shepton Mallet
CIG Construction repaired the roofs and chimneys of a Victorian infant school in Shepton Mallet for its local-authority client and replaced the water-damaged classroom ceilings beneath them.
Five chimneys were rebuilt, sealed and re-leaded, valleys and soakers renewed and eaves timbers repaired. Inside, three classrooms and the library received new suspended ceilings and lighting, with temporary classrooms kept running throughout.

In the detail
A school that never closed.
Hoarding, scaffold and a temporary classroom compound kept the works separate from the children, and each classroom was sheeted, stripped, re-ceilinged and cleaned in turn so teaching carried on next door.
